Handsome Goh Solo Ride Journal

Welcome to my journey through the roads of Peninsular Malaysia. This is a chronicle of my solo rides, my adventures, and the quiet moments on the open road.

Introduction

Hi, I'm Handsome Goh, and this blog will be my digital journal where I record my solo motorbike rides across Peninsular Malaysia. Riding my Honda ADV 150 has been a dream, and soon, when my commitments as a teacher lessen, I will embark on a full ride around the peninsula. I believe the best way to experience the beauty of our country is by exploring it on two wheels, absorbing the culture, sights, and sounds along the way.

Join me as I prepare for this adventure, and eventually take you with me on my solo expeditions. Whether you’re a fellow rider or just a curious traveler, I hope my stories inspire you to hit the road.

Planning the Ride

At the age of 60, after my retirement in November 2026, I plan to begin my ride around Peninsular Malaysia. The excitement of planning every detail, from mapping out the roads to packing the essentials, keeps me motivated. I know it will be a journey filled with challenges, but also one of self-discovery and serenity.

  • Motorbike: Honda ADV 150, my reliable companion.
  • Route: I'll be visiting iconic spots like Kuala Terengganu, Penang, the Cameron Highlands, and Johor Bahru.
  • Timeframe: I'm allowing myself the freedom to take my time, stop when I feel like it, and absorb the atmosphere of each town or city.

The Journey So Far

Although I haven't started the full adventure yet, I've taken many short trips to prepare myself. Each ride is a small escape from my daily routines. These moments of freedom on the road allow me to unwind and reconnect with myself. Here’s a glimpse of where I’ve been so far:

  • Kuala Terengganu to Kota Bharu: A scenic ride along the coastline, where the sea breeze and the smell of the ocean made me feel alive.
  • Terengganu to Kuantan: A peaceful route where the greenery of the forest kept me company.

These rides, though short, have deepened my love for being on the road, and I can’t wait to share my longer trips with you all soon.

Reflections on Riding Solo

Solo riding gives me time to think, reflect, and appreciate life in a way I never could before. It’s not just about the destination; it’s about the freedom of the journey, the wind on my face, and the connection to the road. Every solo ride feels like an accomplishment, a way to recharge my spirit.

For those considering a solo ride, my advice is simple: don’t rush. Take your time to enjoy the sights, meet people, and embrace the solitude. Riding alone allows you to move at your own pace, experience things more personally, and savor every moment of the journey.

Conclusion

This journal will grow as I venture further. In 2026, the adventure will begin in full, and I’ll document every part of the ride – from the planning stages to the days on the road. I hope you'll follow along and join me in experiencing the richness of Malaysia’s landscapes, culture, and roads.

Feel free to leave a comment or share your own riding stories! Together, let’s celebrate the joy of adventure and the thrill of solo riding.

Until the next ride,
Handsome Goh
